Responsibility for the design and implementation of the Food safety & Sanitation strategy at Cupar. Responsible for leading a team to achieve outstanding Food Safety & Sanitation results, measured through audits and scorecard data. Deputising for QM.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for food safety and factory hygiene.
- Compliance to American Institute of Bakers (AIB) & British Retail Consortium (BRC) Brand Reputation through compliance to Global Standard (BRCGS).
- Drive to reduce Harm/foreign body complaints.
- Build a “culture” which drives Food Safety throughout the site.
- Legal compliance owner (factory in control).
- Set site hygiene standards and ensure factory hygiene standards are met.
- Lead EMP program.
- Ensure key contracts ISS, Rentokil etc are driving food safety & factory hygiene standards.
- Ensure HACCP is effective.
- Management of food safety non compliances through hold and concession process, including decision making with regards to Holds in accordance with PIUK standards.
- Leading initiatives to drive correct behaviours to improve Food Safety throughout the site through the Ops Managers, Engineering Manager, SOMs.
- Driving a “shared learning” approach to drive the Food Safety agenda by ensuring incidents and experiences from any one line are acted upon across all.
- A key communicator on Food Safety and Sanitation initiatives within the UK, liaising with UK Sector Quality Manager and Global Food Safety Team, as appropriate.
- Deputising for QM both at dual site level but also within the WESA QM forum.
- QFS Project lead for both capital and commercial change.
- Working closely with Ops Managers, SOMs, Specialists and liaison with all UK Food Safety Managers.
Qualifications
- Ability to understand and interpret a wide range of analytical and microbiological results and make timely and appropriate judgements based on the information.
- Ability to set, plan and see through corrective and preventative actions.
- Ability to manage cross functional “Problem Solving” teams.
- A good understanding of food safety & quality systems – including AIB/BRC, HACCP, PepsiCo Quality systems, IPS, FIC and QCDM.
- Able to apply root cause analysis.
- Lead incident investigations and understand hold and release processes & food safety risks.
- Ideally a knowledge of regulatory authorities, processes & powers (e.g Environmental health & trading standards).
- Manage key 3rd party contracts (Sanitation, pest control, etc).
- Set acceptable standards for plant hygiene and product standards.
- Own and manage HACCP for Site.
- Authorise and/or recommend release/destruction of held product after risk assessment in alignment with QM.
- Support/drive aligned approach to sustaining In-Market wins at all PIUK PC sites.
