We are searching for a Senior Consultant to work on driving and delivering strategy and capability projects that help us create a better future for our clients.

Role of the Consulting team

The purpose of the Consulting team at IGD is to own the:

  • Development of a product strategy and blueprint for creating and delivering Insight, Foresight, Strategy & Capability Consulting projects.
  • Creation of a demand generation plan for consulting leads with marketing and sales.
  • Winning and Delivering Consulting projects and training courses.
  • IP development, through knowledge and process, that underpins our Consulting offer.
  • Capability & development of the Consulting team and all those involved in the service.

Purpose of this role

Engage with suppliers, retailers and service providers and develop consulting project solutions that enable them to improve performance of the business and their people.

Responsible for delivery of strategy & capability projects for clients, including blended learning, people development, strategy development and performance improvement.

Support the strategy and development of IGD’s Consulting Strategy & Capability portfolio for Suppliers, Retailers and Service Providers.

Responsibilities of this role

Identify and co-create experience-relevant Solutions projects (25%)

  • Target for the role is 15% of time on pre-commissioned opportunity and proposal development.
  • Co-creation and delivery of projects and programmes to satisfy customer problems or opportunities in areas of responsibility.
  • Extensive collaboration with the sales team to identify opportunities aligned to IGD’s capabilities, creating consulting propositions that meet the customer needs not met through other services.
  • Manages risk, mitigating actions and good governance in all operating practices.
  • To ensure all solutions created deliver against day rate targets to achieve required profitability, enabling Solutions to grow income and profit as per agreed budgets.

Delivery of experience-relevant Consulting projects (50%)

  • Target for the role is 50% time is billable for delivery and project management.
  • Delivery to include project and programme management, stakeholder management and facilitation that utilises technical skills, knowledge & experience.
  • Ownership and project management of projects, ensuring project teams have the capability and capacity to deliver excellent projects for customers.
  • Ensure high quality delivery, establishing appropriate KPI’s and feedback mechanisms.

Product and IP creation (15%)

  • Target for role is 15% of time spent on this.
  • Create Consulting projects that improve our customers performance and drive the team day rate, utilisation rate and repeats, to help drive Consulting profitability.
  • Support ongoing product innovation, creating more repeatable projects that drive efficiency and generating new project revenue streams for IGD’s long-term success.
  • Helps ensure relevancy of Consulting proposition through customer and industry insight and feedback, in collaboration and alignment with the wider IGD Content & Insight strategies & plans.

Personal development (10%)

  • Target for role is 10% of time spent on this.
  • Develop expertise that drives benefits into clients through strategy & capability.
  • Generate deep insight into the industry and the key challenges our clients are facing.
  • Provide flexible resource, to deliver IGD’s consulting proposition & relevant projects.
  • To coach and guide those on projects to deliver high client engagement and ensure all projects have the required technical & behavioural solutions from the project team.

What you bring

  • Experience of, and passion for, the Food & Grocery industry.
  • Functional industry experience gained in blue chip category/commercial roles.
  • Understanding of the commercial interface between retailers & manufacturers.
  • Credible at senior management level with strong influencing capability.
  • Able to drive client centricity, with great problem-solving skills & will to win for clients.
  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to identify and deliver commercial opportunities within the consultancy/advisory space. Proven track record of high-quality delivery.
  • You could also be, or desire to become, an experienced capability trainer and facilitator, able to devise, develop and deliver successful capability solutions.
  • Progressive attitude, with a partnership mindset, able to build win-win relationships.
  • Dynamic style, self-motivated, and driven, with a growth mindset and results focus.
