Job Title: Data Engineer – Reporting & Power BI

Job Summary
I am working exclusively with a key client and global household name who are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join their dynamic Reporting Team. In this role, you will focus on preparing and managing data for Microsoft PowerBI reporting, ensuring data quality, availability, and integrity. You will work closely with data analysts, UX experts, and report developers to support decision-making through efficient and reliable data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ingest data from multiple sources into Power BI.
Data Preparation: Clean, transform, and model data to meet reporting and analytics requirements for Power BI dashboards.
Optimization: Ensure data pipelines are optimized for performance, scalability, and efficient query execution in PowerBI.
Data Quality and Integrity: Implement data quality checks and monitoring systems to ensure accuracy and reliability in reporting.
Collaboration with Analysts: Work closely with analysts and reporting team members to understand data requirements and provide clean, structured data sets for analysis.
Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for data pipelines, data models, and transformations to support efficient team collaboration and troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting and Support: Identify and resolve data-related issues in PowerBI reports, providing timely support for data discrepancies or anomalies.
Qualifications
Experience: Many years experience in data engineering, data preparation, or ETL development, preferably in a reporting or analytics environment.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and ETL tools; experience with Power BI data transformation and Power Query is a strong plus.
Data Source Integration: Experience working with diverse data sources such as relational databases, APIs, and cloud storage solutions.
Data Management: Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, database design, and data governance.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate data-related concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
Experience with Splunk or other log collection systems
Familiarity with agile methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git).
Experience in DAX or M language for advanced data modeling in PowerBI.
