Job Description:

The purpose of this job role is to provide accurate and timely processing of company Payroll.

Main Duties

Management of the monthly payrolls ensuring strict adherence to deadlinesIn-house liaison and administration of the pension schemes including auto enrolment processing and letters, employee pension requests and annual pension assessmentProvide training and ongoing support to Line Managers for the time and attendance systemProviding in-house training on the computerised Payroll systemOn-going maintenance of the HR/Payroll SystemOn-going maintenance of the time and attendance system including working patterns, absence codes and flexi-time settingsPayroll administration including processing starters and leavers for payroll, SSP, SMP, overtime, ad hoc payments, reward and termination paymentsAdminister holiday purchase and voluntary unpaid leave (VULA) schemesCalculate and process entitlements and shutdown/bank holidays on the time and attendance systemProcess relevant administration at tax year end including P11Ds, P60s and Gender Pay Gap reportingReconcile account and payment of deduction taken from PayrollArrange payments to third parties e.g. HMRC, court orders, CSAGenerate ad-hoc and scheduled reports for both the Payroll and time and attendance systems as requiredProduce the annual Payroll calendarManage effective monitoring of sickness records ensuring company sick pay is paid in line with company policy and issue SSP1 forms where appropriateProvide costings for International Mobility Employees and share the relevant Payroll information with PWC for completion of international assignee tax returnsProcess the administration of statutory external enquiries from Government officesProcess enquiries from bank and building societies relating to mortgage and financial referencesSubmit company car changes to HMRCPrepare annual budget information for PayrollLiaise with payroll provider on input, checking reports, BACS submission

Skills and Knowledge

Previous experience of complete Payroll responsibility for a medium sized company (above 600 employees)Previous experience of Payroll/time and attendance systemsPrevious experience of pension administrationKnowledge/experience of pension auto enrolmentAbility to self-manage – prioritise and systematically complete deadlines effectivelyFlexible with approachCompetent interpersonal and communications skills at all levelsCompetency in co-ordinating an effective administration processExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detailUnderstanding of Payroll legislation and processes i.e. taxAbility to understand legislation and make it user friendly
