The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is looking for a Communications Specialist (Digital) to join our dynamic Communications & Engagement Team and play a pivotal role in enhancing our growing online presence.
The Role
As our Communications Specialist (Digital Content), you’ll be at the heart of our digital transformation, helping to deliver a website improvement plan that will elevate the user experience across our platforms. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the CAA, supporting with day-to-day requests, and providing expert guidance on creating accessible digital content in line with WCAG 2.2 standards. Your contributions will ensure that our communications are consistent, integrated, and aligned with the organisation’s priorities.
- Support day-to-day digital content requests to keep our website up to date, relevant, and engaging.
- Drive the delivery of our website improvement plan, supporting transformation across Civil Aviation Authority websites.
- Be a go-to expert for WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards, ensuring all digital content is accessible to all.
- Play a key role in the Communications Hub structure and wider Communications & Engagement Team to coordinate communications across priority areas.
- Work alongside subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate, up to date, and aligned with stakeholder needs.
- Manage digital consultations, facilitating effective stakeholder engagement and gathering valuable feedback.
- Support management of a content request system, streamlining how we handle and track requests while ensuring robust audit trails and version control.
About You
To thrive in this role, you’ll need a blend of creativity, attention to detail, and expertise in digital content management. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about delivering engaging digital experiences and can guide others in creating accessible, user-friendly content.
You’ll have:
- A strong understanding of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and how to implement them.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and engage with subject matter experts.
- Experience in website management and content improvement initiatives.
- Great organisational skills, particularly in managing multiple content requests and tracking progress efficiently.

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
