Job Title: Student Success Tutor Lead

Employment Type: Full-time (Monday to Friday)

Salary: Up to £32,000 annually

Location: ON-SITE, Leeds, UK

About the Role:

The Student Success Tutor Lead will primarily focus on student retention and satisfaction by offering outstanding first-hand support for their academic needs and lead a team of Student Success Tutors. This student-centred role coordinates with the many queries of students enrolled in our programmes. Workshops and other teaching-related activities may be included. The SSTs are also responsible for communicating with students daily with a problem-solving and proactive attitude to instil confidence in their studies at Elizabeth School of London.

Core Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a small team of student success tutors.
  • Set clear expectations for team members and ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, address challenges, and provide support.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.

Training and Development:

  • Develop training programs for student success tutors to enhance their academic support, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to onboard new tutors and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to tutors to help them improve their performance and effectiveness.

Student Support:

  • Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, and other campus resources to identify students who may benefit from tutoring services.
  • Match students with appropriate tutors based on their academic needs and preferences.
  • Monitor student progress and intervene as needed to address any issues or challenges they may be facing.

Program Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student attendance, and outcomes.
  • Collect and analyse data to assess the tutoring program's effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
  • Make recommendations for program enhancements or modifications based on feedback and evaluation results.

Communication and Outreach:

  • Communicate regularly with students, faculty, and staff to promote tutoring services and encourage student participation.
  • Develop marketing materials and strategies to raise awareness of the tutoring program.
  • Participate in campus events, orientations, and outreach activities to engage with students and promote student success initiatives.

Resource Management:

  • Manage the allocation of resources, including staffing, budget, and materials, to support the tutoring program.
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics for tutoring sessions and team meetings.
  • Ensure tutors have access to the tools and resources to support students effectively.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Assess the impact of tutoring services on student learning outcomes and academic performance.
  • Collect feedback from students, tutors, and other stakeholders to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the tutoring program.
  • Use assessment data to make data-driven decisions and implement improvements to the program as needed.

By effectively managing these responsibilities, the Student Success Tutor Lead plays a crucial role in supporting student success and fostering a positive learning environment on campus.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from any UK recognised university and minimum 1 years of experience in working at any HEI environment in teaching or academic support role.
  • A clear idea about how the academic team works at HEI.
  • Good understanding of current practice and developments in own discipline.
  • Understanding of evidence-led/practice-based teaching and its implementation in teaching and learning practice.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently as required.
  • Able to coordinate and prioritise a range of activities effectively.
  • The candidate must be flexible, approachable, and helpful with a strong customer service ethic as well as willing to go the extra mile to provide the best environment and supports to the students.
  • Experience in tutoring and/or providing support for the academic experience of students.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Collegiate approach to work.
  • Ability to work effectively and courteously in a team of academic staff.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible approach to the demands of a busy college/department in order to accommodate changes in priorities when required.
