The team

The ITV Commercial team is responsible for bringing in the £1.9bn worth of advertising that helps fund ITV’s programming. However, the Commercial team isn’t just about advertising sales. With an ever-changing marketplace, a multitude of new platforms and brands facing into a highly complex marketing landscape, it has never been a more exciting time to join the UKs biggest commercial broadcaster.

The role

This role is responsible for empowering advertisers to harness the power of TV advertising and maximise their return on investment. The successful candidate will achieve this by constructing compelling strategic arguments in favour of TV as an advertising medium. This will involve leveraging a variety of industry and proprietary tools and data-driven insights to showcase an understanding of our clients businesses and illustrating the effectiveness and impact of TV campaigns.

By showcasing TV’s unique strengths and its ability to drive business results, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the advertising strategies of our clients and contributing to the growth of ITV’s Commercial division.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • A strong understanding of how TV is traded
  • Experience as a communications planner or strategist within a media agency, a media owner or client (or within a role that has a strong element of TV planning/strategy to it)
  • Excellent strategic thinking and insight in order to build effective and appropriate strategies that meet client objectives and demonstrate the impact of TV
  • Excellent knowledge of marketing communications best practice including key effectiveness principles both for performance and brand campaigns, and the role of TV within the communications mix and relative to other channels
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills – able to quickly establish rapport and credibility in order to position ITV as a business partner for clients
  • Analytical and numerate – able to work with and process audience insight, programme data and campaign results to identify insights that can build effective, data-driven campaigns for clients

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)

  • Ability to lead sessions for new to TV brands to help them understand the role that TV, and ITV, can play as part of their comms mix
  • Knowledge in developing bespoke proposals for TV campaigns, based on business and target audience insight, that will help brands quickly see the benefits of TV for their business
  • Understanding in working closely with clients to support them throughout campaign development, implementation and evaluation
  • Experience in working closely with the new to TV traders and sales and partnerships teams at ITV, and other internal to deliver test campaigns effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to support the wider core strategy team with strategic viewpoints that are rooted in empirical data and media planning insights
  • A person in tune with the latest industry trends and news, you will disseminate useful information to your peers
