We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon with a strong interest and background in orthopaedics to join our team at the Animal Trust clinic in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This role involves leading our orthopaedic service, handling a mix of elective and non-elective cases, and providing expert care in a dynamic environment. This position is suited for professionals eager to advance their skills in a supportive setting that emphasises community and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the orthopaedic service, managing a diverse caseload including cruciate repairs (TPLO/CCWO, with opportunities to upskill in TPLO if primarily experienced with TTA), patella luxations, and simple to complex fractures.
  2. Perform surgeries and consultations, contributing to the high standards of care provided at our clinic.
  3. Work collaboratively with both internal teams and external referrals to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
  4. Support the continuous development of orthopaedic practices within the clinic, ensuring the integration of the latest techniques and treatments.

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Qualified Veterinary Surgeon, ideally with a post-graduate certificate in small animal surgery or extensive practical experience in orthopaedic surgery.
  2. Confident performing advanced surgical procedures, particularly in TPLO, CCWO, and fracture management.
  3. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical information to pet owners and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  4. A commitment to professional development and a passion for veterinary excellence.

Our Offer

A competitive salary package ranging from £38,000 to £67,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
