About the role of M&E Quantity Surveyor
As an M&E Quantity Surveyor you will have the chance to on one of the biggest datacentres to have been built in the UK, based in East London. This project involves managing the technical aspects of existing projects with an M&E package value around £150m/£200m. You will report directly to the Commercial Director and receive support from the Commercial Manager on site.
Responsibilities for M&E Quantity Surveyor
To ensure site supervisory staff are aware of the project’s scope of works and inclusions in tender packages
Preparing tender packages for M&E subcontract works
Prepare documents required for the procurement of sub- contractors
Prepare contracts and documents for inclusion in tender packages
Ensure that the month on month cash position is positive and the forecasted project margin is met or exceeded.
Prepare forecasts and report on financial status and cash flow.
Administer subcontracts to include payments and claims and submitting progress claims to the client.
Maintain strong relationships with Clients, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
Administer the head contract to include assessment of works completed and where time extensions are needed.
Requirements for the M&E Quantity Surveyor
Knowledge of the M&E market including costs of labour & resources and the M&E product market.
Background in Construction or Building & ability to read drawings / plans
Experience of M&E Quantity Surveying and financial knowledge of construction costs.
An understanding of contracts and the tender process as well as being able to read drawings and understand contracts and legal issues.
Experience in procurement, commercial governance, risk & opportunity management, and cost forecasting & reporting.
Exposure to lift installations and ancillary service packages associated with high value projects ranging across multiple sectors would be advantageous
Experience in administering M&E sub-contract accounts to final agreement, with a successful run of closures of these accounts with the client
Highly motivated with strong communication and negotiation skills
Knowledge of tender processes and have experience in handling contracts and legal issues.
