Teaching Assistant (Behaviour)

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work with children that present with challenging behaviour due to special educational needs or social, emotional, and mental health challenges in Lancing. The successful candidate will have the ability to create positive environment plans and support individualized behaviour plans. You will need to quickly build strong relationships with children and understand their triggers to effectively manage their behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children in managing their behaviour and emotions.
- Create and implement individualised behaviour plans.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Quickly understand triggers and personality traits of pupils.
- Adapt routines and schedules to meet the needs of students.
- Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour.
Essential Experience/Attributes:
- Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs.
- Knowledge and experience in behaviour management strategies.
- A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
- The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to the needs of the pupils.
- Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies.
- Qualifications relating to education, special educational needs, counselling, or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably.
