Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistants

Location: Smallfield, Nr. Horley

Salary: £11.72 – £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £19,370.70 to £21,122.66)

Hours: 37 hours per week – Term Time Only

They cater to young people aged 11 – 19 with complex needs, including autism, moderate and severe learning disabilities, as well as challenges related to speech, language, communication, and behaviour.

Role Overview

We are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join this team. In this role, you will support their students’ learning and wellbeing, ensuring they have the best possible chance to reach their full potential in a nurturing and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with their learning and overall wellbeing.
  • Assist with care needs as required and implement plans to meet each child’s needs through positive behaviour management and tailored approaches.
  • Build supportive, caring relationships with pupils to create a safe and enjoyable learning atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals to foster independence, personal development, and high standards of behaviour.
  • Aid the class teacher in delivering high-quality, differentiated educational activities to help pupils achieve their full potential.
  • Adapt to varying duties and contribute flexibly to meet the needs of the classroom.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience working with SEN in paid or voluntary roles.
  • A Level 2 qualification or above in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent is desirable.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Level 2/C or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience with SEN, SEMH, or ASD.
  • Adaptability and a child-centered approach.
  • Positivity and creativity in meeting individual pupil needs.
  • Ability to follow plans and work effectively with a range of professionals.
